I think Arab Supremacy is not talked about enough and it is something I feel strongly about. Racism in Arab countries against South Asians and East Asians, as well as black people is seen as common and expected. It is normal for staff to treat customers who aren’t white or Arab themselves poorly, and not to mention the horrific treatment of the domestic workers and construction workers, who are completely ignored and basically have very little rights once they start working for Arab families. Racism in Arab countries is swept under the rug and tolerated. Arabs adopt a mentality similar to white people and develop superiority complexes, this has a lot to do with their skin colour, as anti blackness is rampant in Arab culture as well. It is so common to see blatant racism from Arabs openly on twitter and there seems to be little to no backlash. Why are they excused from their racist views? There are documentaries made about racism in Arab countries, Lebanon being infamous for it’s racism as well as the Khaleeji states (U.A.E, Qatar, Bahrain) whose ugly truths are hidden behind their attempts to constantly show off their country as luxurious resorts. White people visiting these countries (especially Dubai) will LOVE the way they are treated, because they come only second to Arabs and retain their white privilege. However, people with more melanin (especially Asians) will find their situations are not the same.
In the United States America, Americans have always dealt with wars and terrorist attacks. For example, on December 7th 1941 Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese, there also was the Sunday Bomber that detonated a series of bombs in New York City during the early 1960’s. One of the biggest attacks done on the U.S soil was on Tuesday September 11, 2001, as the Twin Towers were crumbling down to the ground so was the religion of Islam. September 11th not just changed America’s outlook but also the worlds view how Muslims are perceived as “terrorist”.
In today’s world the term “terrorist” is associated with the religion of Islam. The Islamic communities in America and around the world are paying the ultimate price of hardship and violence. It’s not a mystery that these groups of radicals are calling themselves Muslims; however does a group of individuals define a whole religion. In today’s society here in America most American Muslims deal with racial profiling on a daily basis. For example, just going through airport security with the name Muhammad makes you a target for “random” security checks. Trust me there is nothing random about those checks. It screams racial profiling without saying it out loud. Its taboo to say Sir or Ma’am we need to check you because we think you might be a terrorist.
Many people are not educated about the different types of cultur es around the world. The discrimination towards Muslims is affecting other religions as well. There have been many attacks on Sikhs and Hindu’s. Sikhs have been abused and harassed because of their attire. Many Sikhs wear a head turban that resembles a Muslim’s that cover their heads.
On August 5, 2012 in Oak Creek, Wisconsin Wade Michael Page shot a Sikh Temple assuming it was a Muslim Mosque. Six innocent lives were lost and four were critically injured. This caused a lot of pandemonium between the Sikh and Muslims communities.
The Mosque are also going through their own fair share of problems. Friday prayers are interrupted by protesters many of them screaming offensive slurs to the group of people attending. Many Mosques have been shut down across the U.S and mostly all the Mosque are taking help from their local law enforcement.
The Muslim youth are also facing problems in School. Ahmed Mohamed a 14 year old boy from Texas was arrested for making a clock for his Science class this past summer. The boy was racially profiled by the Irving School district and the Irving Police Department for making a home bomb. The student was not given an opportunity to explain himself to the facility of the school. The School decided to call the police and the police decided to arrest the young Muslim boy because a clock was bought to the school and his name was Muhammad. The young American Muslims around the country are being discouraged for making an impact in the western world.
The media has a big impact on the society we live in today. People are starting to believe everything the media has to say whether true or not. We need to break out of the dreadful shell of believing in what you see is what true state of mind. We rely on what the media says and not do our research on the different events that are leading up to the story. The picture is not always black and white there is a grey aspect to it. We as individuals need to find the real problem and deal with it instead of the media painting a false imagine and everyone backing it up.
One thing I would to point out from the Paris attacks and the role social media played in the aftermath. Facebook made a profile filter in support of the attack on Paris and the colors of the French flag were displayed. However the war in Syria where tens of thousands of people have lost here lives the Syrian flag colors were never portrayed or designed. I believe in one color and the color of humanity. We should support the world as a whole and not separate countries and the violence that takes place in them.
The truth is Islamophobia has affected the lives of not just Muslims but many Eastern cultures across the world. Islamophobia as changed the way we look and perceive others in what they wear and who they believe in. History has proven the dangers of racial profiling and forced nations to do the unthinkable, for example like the Jewish holocaust and the Japanese concentration camps. Islamophobia has also taken a part in the political presidential campaign were Donald Trump says “Muslims should be forced to wear an ID badges”. Let’s not repeat the horrific history the world is known for.
Rip to all my fellow brothers and sisters who wasnt able to see 2016. You are loved and missed more and more each day. Watch over us, guide us. We love you ☝🏾👼🏾
my friend just posted this on my facebook wall and i got stupidly happy(i’m a fedex driver)
i’ve been working longer hours with no overtime pay for the past month so i kinda maybe hope you all appreciate us lol
I posted this last year and I feel like I gotta bring it back cuz damn this season is crazy!
As a Fedex Courier…thank you
I order pretty much everything off the internet you guys are basically my heros
Putting this right here (US-based, obvs), because not only does the US Postal service deliver considerably more than FedEx or UPS COMBINED, they also haul a ton of those FedEx and UPS packages from point A. to point B. So! While I do very much appreciate the work FedEx and UPS drivers and companies do (you guys are great!),let’s not forget our Post Office workers who also have mandatory overtime for the same pay.
